Driver who fled from CHP officers on Highway 99 hospitalized after ejection crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A multi-vehicle collision caused traffic to back up in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 Thursday afternoon, near Ming Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Reports of a possible impaired driver were called in to the CHP office around 2:14 p.m. Officers located the suspect vehicle, a gray 2008 Nissan truck, on Highway 99 at Airport Drive.

The driver fled and officers pursued until the suspect crashed into a 2018 Mitsubishi and a 2017 Ford near Ming Avenue.

The fleeing suspect, Cinthia Asusena Gonzalez, was hospitalized after being ejected and suffering major injuries. No other major injuries were reported to the other victims…
