BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Neither side got everything they wanted during a fiery hearing Thursday morning for Paul Magallanes, charged with murder in the shooting death of his sister-in-law.
Prosecutor Stephanie Taconi’s motion to increase bail was denied, as was defense attorney H.A. Sala’s request to postpone his client’s arraignment and the setting of a trial date so he could make arrangements to continue to represent him.
When Taconi objected to the two-week postponement, Sala accused her of having a “vindictive attitude” and argued his client has a right to counsel of his choice.
In response, Taconi denied being vindictive, saying she’s looking out for the rights of the victim’s family and opposing unnecessary delays…
