Woman charged after high-speed chase in stolen car ends with K-9 unit intervention

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Ashley Cabe, a 21-year-old woman, was officially charged in court on Tuesday following an alleged high-speed chase with law enforcement last week.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to stop Cabe on Thursday night near North Chester Avenue and Beardsley Avenue. She was reportedly driving a car that had been reported stolen. Cabe allegedly refused to pull over, prompting a chase that involved a helicopter and the highway patrol.

The pursuit ended when the car broke down outside Chuze Fitness on Stockdale Highway. Cabe refused to exit the vehicle, leading deputies to use a K-9 unit to take her into custody.

Cabe pleaded not guilty to four felony counts and a misdemeanor related to the incident. She is being held on $75,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court on July 31…
