BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — It’s been four years since the death of Kern County Sheriff Deputy Phillip Campas. Campas was killed during a standoff in Wasco on July 25, 2021.
In July 2021, Deputy Campas was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call in a Wasco neighborhood. Deputy Campas was struck by gunfire while entering a home with a SWAT team formation in an attempt to suppress an active shooter who had executed family members and was holding an additional family hostage.
