Alleged burglar shot by Taft homeowner pronounced dead: coroner

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The alleged burglar who was shot by a homeowner in Taft died a little over a week after the shooting, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

Felix Villasenor Cortez, 36, of Taft was reportedly in the backyard of another person’s home in the 300 block of Montview Avenue on July 14 at 5:54 a.m., according to officials.

Cortez was shot when he allegedly charged at the homeowner while holding an unknown object, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Cortez was airlifted to Kern Medical and was in the intensive care unit, officials said. He died at around 5:11 p.m. July 22…
