Kern County Desert Faces 110° Heat Risk Until 5 A.M. Tuesday

Bakersfield, Calif. – Dangerous heat is set to grip the Kern County Slopes and Desert through early Tuesday, with highs pushing past 110 degrees and little relief overnight. The National Weather Service warns the combination of intense daytime heat and warm nighttime lows poses a serious health risk, especially for those without adequate cooling.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, the warning is in effect from 2 p.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Tuesday. The affected area includes communities such as Tehachapi, Mojave, California City, Rosamond, and Edwards Air Force Base. Forecasters note that overnight lows have failed to cool as much in recent days, increasing the danger of heat-related illness.
