BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The death of 8-year-old Genesis Mata allegedly at the hands of her father and stepmother continues to reverberate throughout Bakersfield.
Days after Genesis’ death, many 17 News viewers have noticed disturbing similarities to another high-profile California case of child abuse from more than a decade ago.
Genesis’ father, Ray Mata, 31, and stepmother Graciela Bustamonte, 27, are accused of her abuse, torture and murder.
