BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — From helping newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients to explaining the risk of eating ultra-processed foods, one Bakersfield doctor is doing his part.
Dr. Ravi Patel with the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center joined 17 News at Sunrise to talk the latest on cancer research and treatment.
“Prostate cancer is one of the common cancers and the best approach for prostate cancer is to surgically remove it,” said Dr. Patel. “In older individuals the surgery can be aggressive, sometimes the best option is radiation. If the cancer has spread it’s one of those cancers that is driven by testosterone, so if you suppress the testosterone you can control the cancer.”…
