BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield City Council is set to discuss a proposal on Wednesday to rename H Street in honor of Cesar Chavez, the civil rights activist renowned for his dedication to improving conditions for farmworkers, particularly Latino and migrant workers in the United States.
Andres Chavez, Cesar Chavez’s grandson and executive director of the National Chavez Center, highlighted the enduring impact of his grandfather’s work.
“And what we’ve really seen since his passing is that his legacy has really inspired people from all backgrounds. I think the reason why it’s inspired people from all backgrounds is because of those values that he taught us,” said Andres Chavez.
