Kern County airports receive over $1.7M in federal grant funding

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Five airports in Kern County were among those that received federal grants to improve airport infrastructure across the state of California, receiving over $1.7 million in total.

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded a combined total of $158,375,329 to 72 California airports in grant funding.

According to a release from the office of Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), the funding comes from two programs — the Airport Infrastructure Grant program and the Airport Improvement Program. Both programs focus on improving runways and taxiways at airports, among other projects.
