Albuquerque fills in for Bakersfield in ‘Honey Don’t!’

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It only takes the opening moments of the new feature film “Honey Don’t!” to realize the story is taking place in Bakersfield.

The opening montage includes quick glimpses of the Fox Theater, the Bakersfield Police Department, the former home of the Bakersfield Californian, the Nile Theater and some seedy shots taken downtown.

Director/co-writer Ethan Coen and co-writer Tricia Cooke traveled to Bakersfield with a camera months after filming had been completed to capture more of the town’s scenery. This was to make sure they had what they needed for the title sequence…
