BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A portion of Highway 178 is closed due to a brush fire that began after a collision that sent a pickup truck off the road and into an embankment Friday afternoon, officials said.
The fire is being referred to as the Little Fire and has burned 245 acres, officials with the U.S. Forest Service said. Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Kern County Fire Department have been sent to fight the fire. The fire is at 0% containment.

CHP said Highway 178 was closed between Borel Road and Kern Canyon Road. The Old Kern Canyon Road was open, according to U.S. Forest Service officials in a Facebook post.
