Public Defender’s Office says it has conflict representing woman accused of killing foster son

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Public Defender’s Office has filed a motion saying it has a conflict of interest in continuing to represent a woman accused of killing her 3-year-old foster son.

The motion, filed last week in the case of Margaret Eichhorst, is scheduled to be heard Thursday.

If the Public Defender’s Office is removed, an attorney with the Indigent Defense Program — the county’s other option for defendants who can’t afford to retain private counsel — will take over…
