Valley Strong to pay $1M for naming rights to room in MLK Park’s new wellness center

UPDATE: The Bakersfield City Council approved the naming rights agreement with Valley Strong Credit Union for a designated room in the new health and wellness resource center at Martin Luther King Jr. Park during its meeting on Wednesday.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The new health and wellness resource center at Martin Luther King Jr. Park is slated to have a room named after Valley Strong Credit Union, following a $1 million payment from the credit union to the city of Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield City Council agenda, MLK Park located at 1000 S. Owens St. in Bakersfield is in the beginning stages of renovation and construction to “meet local recreational demands, attract and accommodate regional, state and national athletic competitions.”…
