‘You need to be fighting for us’: Union workers call for more action from Kern County leaders on Labor Day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Some of Bakersfield’s working force celebrated Labor Day on Monday, while actively fighting for better union rights.

America’s first Labor Day was held in September 1895, thanks to a movement started by labor and union activists across the country. Labor unions might be celebrating the day off, but they say there is plenty of room for improvement, even after 130 years.
