BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner has identified the 25-year-old man who died in a head-on crash on Taft Highway as Elvis Ociel Hernandez Lopez of Bakersfield. The crash happened on Sunday, August 31, at approximately 3:30 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Hernandez was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra westbound on Taft Highway, west of Sunridge Avenue. At the same time, a 42-year-old woman from Taft was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on the same highway, east of Sunridge Avenue.
