Edison Mobile Home Park murder-arson suspect released from custody

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Nine months ago, two women were killed in a trailer fire at Edison Mobile Home Park east of Bakersfield. Since then, the question remained: Who started the fire?

That question may have been answered with the arrest of a Ventura County man, who was booked on suspicion of murder in connection to both women’s deaths.

The fire took out power at this mobile home park and killed 54-year-old Laurie Cantu and another woman the coroner has yet to identify. The park now is empty of its previous residents, the property gated and trailers being built by a new owner.
