BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was convicted of several charges, including murder, after a 97-mile pursuit ended with him driving on the wrong side of the road and hitting a vehicle head-on, killing a passenger in 2021.
The Kern County District Attorney’s Office said a Kern County jury found Manuel Vincent Gutierrez guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder, evading a peace officer causing death, evading a peace officer causing serious bodily injury, driving on the opposite side of the highway, reckless evading peace officers, possession of a firearm by a felon, and assault with an automobile.
