BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A pavement rehabilitation project on California Avenue will affect eastbound and northbound traffic lanes between Stockdale Highway and Real Road starting next week until October 27, announced the City of Bakersfield. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 8.
Traffic impacts will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. as crews undertake extensive reconstruction work. The project includes removing existing asphalt, repaving the roadway, installing thermoplastic and green methyl methacrylate striping and lane markings, and upgrading sidewalk access ramps at intersections to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Additionally, adjustments will be made to existing manholes and water valves, new median nose and drainage cuts will be constructed, and monument encasements will be adjusted.
Drivers should anticipate lane reductions and closures throughout the project and are advised to use alternate routes or plan for additional travel time. Traffic controls will be implemented as necessary to ensure safe passage through the work area…
