Most flooded roads reopen in Kern County as stranded drivers rescued safely, CHP confirms

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — People who were stuck in rising floodwaters in the desert area of Kern County during Thursday’s intense storm are accounted for and safe, according to CHP Mojave officials. The update comes as several roads in that area are also back open.

The remnants of Tropical Storm brought widespread rainfall throughout Kern County most of Thursday. Some areas of the Kern Desert saw intense flash floods, which washed out roads and caused some of them to close for some time.
