BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County is looking to formally oppose Proposition 50, a proposition spearheaded by Gov. Gavin Newsom that would temporarily change the congressional district maps in California.
The Kern County Board of Supervisors first discussed Prop. 50 during its meeting on Sept. 9.
During the meeting, District 1 Supervisor Phillip Peters asked the county staff to bring back the matter at their next meeting so the board can formally oppose Prop. 50.

Peters accused Newsom of refusing to follow the taxpayers’ desires, saying Newsom supports Prop. 50 while allegedly refusing to support law enforcement which would make the state safer.
