BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Court documents show that at around 1:30 a.m., August 24, 2025, Keiona Hyde thought she was on Taft Highway when she struck a vehicle that ejected passenger 23-year-old Chasie Aquino Carino, killing her.
Hyde was actually in the westbound lanes of Panama Lane at Stine Road when she crashed into Carino’s vehicle, which was heading south. Documents said her blood test later, while in the hospital, revealed that her blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.187%, more than double the legal limit of 0.080%. An officer said she also smelled of THC and marijuana.
Documents also revealed that Hyde was driving at 77 miles per hour when she struck Carino’s vehicle. The speed limit on Panama Lane is 55 miles per hour.
