Kern County gang, drug trafficking investigation units make over 600 arrests since May 2024

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two task forces in Kern County made over 600 arrests related to illegal drugs and firearm possession since last May, according to the Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting agenda.

The Sheriff’s Office reinstated its Gang Suppression Unit in May 2024 and has gradually assigned staff to the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force, according to officials.

Since then, the Gang Suppression Unit has made over 300 arrests, according to the agenda.

The unit also reportedly seized 186 firearms, $285,365 in currency, 81.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 24 pounds of fentanyl, 61.9 pounds of marijuana and 500 fentanyl M30 pills…
