Starbucks Permanently Closes Four Bakersfield Locations

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Starbucks is closing four stores in Bakersfield as part of a nationwide downsizing that will shutter more than 500 locations. The closures come amid declining sales and profits for the coffee giant.

In Bakersfield, the affected locations include 30107 Paradise Way, 3300 White Lane, 9000 Ming Avenue, and 1643 S Comanche Drive. Some employees have been transferred to other stores, while others have been let go.

“Each year, we open and close coffeehouses for a variety of reasons, from financial performance to lease expiration,” Starbucks Chairman Brian Niccol said. “This is a more significant action that we understand will impact partners and customers. Our coffeehouses are centers of the community, and closing any location is difficult.”…
