BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Sergio Venegas spent 30 years in prison after raping a woman in 1989. He’d been sentenced to 55 years, but changes in the law resulted in his release, giving him a chance at life on the outside.
Not even a year passed before he was rearrested for attacking a woman on Ming Avenue whom he attempted to rape before she managed to escape.
On Friday, a Superior Court judge imposed a sentence he said should ensure “Mr. Venegas is never put in a position where he can victimize a female again.”…
