Mistrial declared after jury deadlocks on resisting arrest charge

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A mistrial was declared after jurors failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a woman charged with resisting arrest, the foreperson saying there was disagreement over whether body-worn camera footage showed resistance, according to the Public Defender’s Office.

The defendant, referred to as “Ms. Givan,” is due back in court next week, when a retrial date may be set. The mistrial was declared earlier this month.
