2 motorcycle riders critically injured in Hwy 178 crash: Bakersfield PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two motorcycle riders suffered severe injuries Sunday morning after colliding into a vehicle making a U-turn along Highway 178, according to Bakersfield police.

Officers and emergency responders were called to the 13300 block of Highway 178 on Sunday at around 9:38 a.m. for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

Police said a man and woman on the motorcycle suffered major injuries in the crash. They were taken to a hospital for treatment and their condition was critical, according to a statement from police.

Investigators said both the motorcycle and a the driver of a Honda CR-V were traveling eastbound on Highway 178 when the driver the Honda attempted a U-turn, followed the collision.
