Coroner identifies pedestrian struck by vehicle on Norris Rd

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the man who died after getting struck by a vehicle in Oildale on Thursday.

Jesus Torrez Loya Jr., 31, of Bakersfield was crossing the street southbound on Norris Road outside a marked crosswalk just before 9 p.m. Oct. 9, according to officials.

A 27-year-old male driver operating a Toyota was traveling eastbound on Norris Road, east of Stockton Avenue, at about 45 mph. The driver struck Loya and Loya was pronounced dead at the scene, investigators said.
