“It’s a silent crime” Nurses help collect forensic evidence for victims of domestic violence

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Domestic Violence awareness month was declared a by Congress in 1989. But long before that, people were fighting to bring awareness to the issue.

This month what we’re highlighting is really standing for survivors, victims, advocates, first responders and just highlighting every story, because every story matters,” says Director of Client Services for ‘The Open Door Network’, Ilene Parra. “It’s an opportunity to stand together as a community to stand against domestic violence.”
