Sons of Fairfax MS teacher killed in crash seek millions in claims filed against Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The two sons of a Fairfax Junior High teacher who died in a crash in April filed claims against Kern County, alleging dangerous conditions and lack of maintenance at the intersection where the crash occurred.

John Folger, 65, was operating a motorcycle around 3:20 p.m. April 28 on South Fairfax Road approaching Via Del Mar, according to the California Highway Patrol. A 48-year-old woman was driving a Hyundai on South Fairfax Road and making a left turn onto Via Del Mar, when she collided with Folger’s motorcycle.

Folger suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead two days later at Kern Medical, according to officials.
