BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The trial of Maya Hernandez, charged with murder and involuntary manslaughter of her one-year-old son, has been postponed to Nov. 10, according to Kern County court records. This marks the second delay, following a previous postponement on Sept. 8.
Hernandez is accused of leaving her one-year-old and two-year-old children in a hot car while she was at a medical spa in Bakersfield on June 29. The one-year-old boy, Amillio Gutierrez, died as a result.
Hernandez pleaded not guilty in July. Authorities reported that when officers arrived, they found the children had been left in the vehicle for over two hours while Hernandez was inside the spa undergoing a cosmetic procedure.
