Gang rivalry leads to fatal shooting of known Bloods member on M Street: Court docs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Court documents have revealed that the fatal shooting of Errol Scorzac III was carried out by West Side Baker gang members Anthony Guiterrez and Andrew Espinoza. Scorzac, a known Blood gang member, had previously killed a West Side Baker member in 2014.

On January 26, 2022, Bakersfield police officers responded to a welfare check on a person lying on the ground in the 900 block of M Street. Officers arrived and found Scorzac dead at the scene with a gunshot wound.

An offense report indicated that 9-1-1 was not immediately called, and children were among the first to discover Scorzac’s body. Neighbors reported hearing up to 10 gunshots, and a Spot Shotter activation was recorded at 7:42 p.m. Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed two suspects, matching the descriptions of Espinoza and Guiterrez, approaching Scorzac. The footage captured muzzle flashes and audio of gunshots, with both suspects fleeing the scene.

Bakersfield police confirmed the gang affiliations of Espinoza and Guiterrez after consulting with an affiliated member and reviewing Instagram videos showing gang hand signs. The day after the shooting, a woman informed police she witnessed Scorzac’s murder at 10th and M streets, acknowledging his Blood gang affiliation. The Bloods and West Side Bakers are known rivals in the area.

Before his fatal shooting, Scorzac was recently paroled for the 2014 murder of West Side Baker member Abel Ibarra Trujillo, according to our previous reporting and court documents…
