California Man Accused of Attempted Assault After Trying to Meet Teen Girl in Brookville Waives Hearing

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) — The case of a California man who allegedly attempted to meet a 15-year-old girl for sexual relations in Jefferson County has moved forward to the common pleas court.

According to court records, the following charges against 31-year-old Jonathan Joseph Mota Mendoza, of Bakersfield, California, were waived for court on Monday, November 3, before Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak:

  • Criminal Attempt — Statutory Sexual Assault: 11 Years Older, Felony 1
  • Criminal Attempt — IDSI Person Less Than 16 Years of Age, Felony 1
  • Criminal Attempt — Corruption of Minors — Defendant Age 18 or Above, Felony 3
  • Criminal Use of Communication Facility, Felony 3
  • Criminal Attempt — Indecent Assault Person Less Than 16 Years of Age, Misdemeanor 2

The case has been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.

Mendoza is currently free after posting $50,000 monetary bail through a professional bondsman on September 24…
