KERN RIVER VALLEY — With heavy rain in the forecast, Kern County Public Works has stocked sand at multiple locations across the valley so residents can prepare for possible flooding.
The county provides the sand for free, but residents will need to bring their own shovels and sandbags. Empty bags are available at local hardware stores. Public Works says the goal is to get sand into neighborhoods before the storm arrives, especially in areas that have dealt with drainage problems in the past.
