BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A preliminary hearing for Cesar Magana-Mendoza, a 20-year-old man charged in connection with a suspected DUI crash that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old girl, Azmeret Mayall, has been delayed until Feb. 10, 2026.
Magana-Mendoza faces multiple charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He pleaded not guilty on Sept. 30.
Authorities allege Magana-Mendoza was speeding when he rear-ended another vehicle carrying a mother, an infant, and 6-year-old Azmeret Mayall.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on September 28, 2025, at around 7:41 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Cottonwood Road and E. Panama Lane regarding a multi-vehicle crash.
