North Edwards couple bound over for trial in child torture case

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A North Edwards couple was bound over for trial on charges of torture and assault in the alleged abuse of their adopted children, according to court records.

A judge found there was sufficient evidence during a hearing last week for the case against Matthew and Brittney James to proceed.

They’re due back in court Dec. 2, when a trial date will be set. Each is charged with three counts of torture and assault, among other crimes, and is being held without bail…
