Taft College Volleyball Team Mentors Foothill High Athletes, Strengthening Local Community Ties

The Taft College Women’s Volleyball Team recently visited Foothill High School in Taft, California. The purpose was to mentor local student-athletes. Taft College Head Coach Mallori Rossi, a Foothill High alumna, led the visit. She returned to her former school to support the community.

During the visit, college athletes met with the high school volleyball team. They discussed college readiness, balancing academics and athletics, and personal development. The session included a Q&A. High school students asked about training routines, overcoming challenges, and the college admissions process.

The Taft College players demonstrated volleyball drills and gameplay. This gave the high school team an example of collegiate-level skills and intensity. Many Foothill students have limited access to club programs or advanced training. The mentorship provided exposure to higher-level volleyball.
