BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Theater fans who have been wanting to see a certain play either have to wait until a local theater company or a touring troupe stages the production, or travel to a major city to view the production. Those who wanted to see the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Merrily We Roll Along” had to travel to New York to see the stage show.
That has changed as the stage production with the original Broadway cast of Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez has been filmed and is now playing at select local theaters. This is not an adaptation of the play to a massive film presentation as was the case with “Wicked” but a recording of live performances.
