A man was struck an killed on Grocer Grade Monday afternoon when he stopped to check his vehicle after he stopped on the shoulder to check the tires after hitting the curb and embankment.
“A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Honda Civic was traveling westbound on State Route 166, east of Soda Lake Road, with four occupants,” the California Highway Patrol said in a news release. “The driver of the Honda came to a stop on the westbound shoulder, partially blocking the westbound lane of State Route 166. The driver stopped to check the Honda’s right-side tires after striking the right-side curb and embankment. As the driver attempted to reenter the vehicle, he was struck by a truck tractor…combination traveling westbound on State Route 166.”
