Storm to bring significant rainfall and possible flooding to California mid to late week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — After more than a month of DRY and STORMLESS weather the pattern will do an about-face this new week. A storm is set to form off the West Coast as a deep trough of low pressure diving in from the north interacts with subtropical moisture flowing in from the south and southwest. The trajectory of this next Atmospheric River looks to take it straight into California.

Significant rainfall amounts will likely lead to very wet roadways and areas of flooding that could impact holiday travelers. Snow will finally be plentiful up across the high country of the Sierra, but further south into Kern County the airmass might be warmer with the snow levels being higher.
