6 deaths, 379 alleged DUI arrests and 5,400+ citations in New Year’s enforcement period

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — During the 2025 New Year’s Enforcement Period, California Highway Patrol (CHP), six people died, 379 drivers were arrested for alleged DUI, and officers issued 5,458 citations.

Speeding remained a significant concern, with 2,972 speeding citations issued, including 92 drivers caught traveling over 100 miles per hour.
