BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The man accused of killing Kern High School District police chief Steve Alvidrez in a 2011 crash on Highway 99 pleaded no contest Thursday to second-degree murder.
David Lopez Lilly, 38, faces 15 years to life in prison at his sentencing hearing next month, prosecutors said.
Other charges, including first-degree murder, were dismissed.
Lilly wasn’t linked to the crash until weeks later — at which point he’d flex to Mexico. He remained at large until January of last year, when the FBI arrested him with assistance from Nayarit State Police…
