Bakersfield woman alleges civil rights violation by BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A Bakersfield woman, Mariah Brooks, has come forward with allegations against the Bakersfield Police Department, claiming her civil rights were violated during a recent encounter.

Brooks asserts that officers entered her home without a warrant, detained her, and used excessive force after she inquired about her constitutional rights on December 20, 2025.

Brooks recounted the incident, stating, “I listened to any questions they asked me. I answered it. Anything they told me to do, I did it.”

She described being tackled to the ground by multiple officers, resulting in her nightgown being torn open, leaving her exposed in front of neighbors…
