BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police arrested 14 people when 36 encampments were removed from the Kern Riverbed earlier this week. Eleven animals were taken into protective custody during the Jan. 14 encampment cleanup.
Flood Ministries provided housing assistance to a woman at the Brundage Lane Navigation Center.
Police said the encampments span the riverbed from the 24th Street, overcrossing to the Kern River Upland Park Weir.
