Suspect arrested in 17-year-old homicide cold case in North Edwards

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — In October of 2025, 35-year-old David Angulo was arrested in San Bernardino for allegedly driving under the influence. The arrest led to an unexpected update in a 2008 cold case murder in North Edwards.

On Nov. 25, 2008, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 18000 block of B Avenue in North Edwards, according to officials.

There, they found Thomas Charles Horton, 78, dead inside a home. Neighbors reportedly hadn’t seen him for over a week before he was found, investigators said.

His body was in a state of decomposition and the home was extremely unkempt, according to sheriff’s officials…
