Kern County Police Arrest Man, 19, for Alleged Negligent Discharge of Firearm

BAKERSFIELD, CA — “On January 14, 2026, deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Lamont Substation responded to a report of shots fired near Weedpatch Highway and Kam Avenue, Bakersfield, California in the northern outskirts of Lamont, California.

During the investigation, deputies located a large party at a residence in the 8400 block of Kam Avenue. Deputies discovered fresh spent shell casings and obtained a search warrant for the property. The search of the property revealed a concealed AK-47 rifle and a 1911-style handgun consistent with the spent shell casings located by deputies.
