BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Shafter city officials are set to consider a 26-year lease agreement with the Wonderful Logistics Center to reactivate the city’s rail facility, hoping to generate tens of millions of dollars through the years.
The Shafter City Council is being asked to approve the lease agreement for the city’s existing rail facility, according to the meeting agenda for Tuesday.

The facility is on 34.54 acres between the BNSF mainline and Wonderful Logistics Center and consists of 22,000 feet of track, the agenda said.
The city completed construction for this rail facility in 2015, which mainly served oil and gas service companies that ceased operations in Shafter within a few years. City officials said this was due to the oil and gas industry decline in Kern County…
