BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft Unit has released its 2025 year-end report. It highlighted enforcement efforts to combat organized retail theft and protect the Bakersfield business community.
According to Bakersfield police, from January 1st through December 31st, 2025, the ORT Unit found:
- 492 total arrests
- 234 arrests eligible under Proposition 36
- 98 Organized Retail Theft Blitz operations conducted
- 209 complaints filed
- 954 cases cleared
- $136,763.98 in stolen property recovered
- 6,019 stolen items recovered
- 2 firearms seized from ORT-related offenses
- 4 stolen vehicles recovered
- 35 vehicles towed
- 24 juveniles referred to the juvenile diversion program
In a release, police said, “Notably, 78.7% of total arrests resulted from ORT Blitz operations, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Unit’s focused, high-visibility enforcement strategies.”
