BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Family Justice Center opened in 2017 with the largest local domestic violence awareness non-profit, The Open-Door Network, right by its side. But that partnership of almost nine years came to a crashing end last week.
The nonprofit’s sudden firing and its aftermath are shrouded in questions, rumors of retaliation and unanswered questions about where victims can get the resources they need.

The Family Justice Center in downtown Bakersfield looked as it does most days with cars lining the front of the multi-story building.
But with a reduction of dozens of staff provided by the Open-Door Network, its inner workings might be looking more like a skeleton crew…
