Jury convicts men who shot state trooper at traffic stop nearly two years later

After a five-day jury trial, the two men who shot State Trooper Adam Cothron two years ago at a traffic stop have been convicted.

According to a statement from the District Attorney Bryant Dunaway, Putnam County jury convicted Timothy Laquan Davis, Jr. and Braze Roland Rucker of Attempted First Degree Murder of a law enforcement officer, Employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, Theft of property over $10,000 in value, and possession of a firearm by person previously convicted of a violent felony.

The verdict comes nearly two years after Rucker shot Cothron while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Putnam County. Rucker and Davis were driving a stolen car and after they were stopped by Cothron, rolled the window down and shot him, sped off, leaving Cothron on the shoulder of the road.
